Man killed by son-in-law after the suspect was scolded by the victim for being a ‘wife beater’

CALAPAN CITY – A man was reportedly shot dead by his son-in-law after the former scolded the latter for beating up his daughter, who is wife of the suspect.
The victim, who was identified in a report at the MIMAROPA Philippine National Police (PNP) office here, was Rafael Dawis, a 70-year old man who suffered two gunshot wounds in the face.
Dawis body is now being held at a wake in his home at Sitio Cuarenta, Brgy. Dayap in Sta.Cruz town, Occidental Mindoro province.
Accordingly, the victim was killed on the night of March 31 during which, Geroncio Mendoza got fed up and shot Dawis after getting mad over the victim’s berating the suspect over a spat with his wife, identified as Juvelyn Dawis.
Juvelyn, a daughter of the victim, is a common-law wife of Mendoza.
Local policemen are now hunting down the suspect, who is now dubbed as “armed and dangerous.” (By JUANCHO R. MAHUSAY)
