Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro, the most searched PhL destination
CALAPAN CITY – While Boracay in Aklan province and El Nido in Palawan are consistently being dubbed as two of the country’s best destinations, do you know that the tourist town of Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro most catches interests among internet users?
According to Google Philippines, which released its “Summer Zeitgeist” list on Wednesday (May 23), Puerto Galera, which is the northernmost municipality in Oriental Mindoro, is the most searched summer destination in the country.
As the local unit of the Internet search giant noted that many Filipinos turn to the Internet for vacation destinations as the summer season nears its end, they found out that the said summer capital of Oriental Mindoro in MIMAROPA Region (Region 4B) is being searched most among tourist destinations in the Philippines by majority of the web users so far.
In a statement, Google Philippines noted that “Many (Filipinos) still do the last-minute destination and hit the beach.”
Coming after Puerto Galera, Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte province is the second most searched destination among users in the Philippines, followed by resorts such as the Bohol Beach Club and Boracay Regency. Antipolo resorts Bosay and Loreland Farm made it to fifth and sixth place, respectively.
Meanwhile, Splash Island, a waterpark in Laguna, remains popular as it held the seventh spot, closely followed by Canyon Cove in Batangas and Subic Resorts in Zambales.
Rounding out the top ten is La Virginia Resort, which is also in Batangas province.
Puerto Galera is a popular tourist destination in the country, particularly during the Holy Week. Early this year, CNNGo named Puerto Galera’s The Canyons as among the best dive sites in the world.(By JUANCHO R. MAHUSAY)
